A picture's worth a thousand words...

With the thought that a picture is worth a thousand words, I end my week in Nanjing City, Jiangsu, China with these photos of the shopping mall, the area around the mall and the walking streets behind my hotel.  Next time I write it will be from Guangzhou, Guangdong, China - one step closer to HOME!!

While walking around taking these photos this morning I thought many times how I wish I could share the smells of China with you...an odd combination for sure, and something that this blog could never explain, but oh how I wish I could!  Oh, and one final thought - hooray, hooray, the sun came out today (sorry, didn't mean to make that rhyme)...couldn't see blue skies or the sun itself through the smog, but there was definitely some sunlight! ;-)

Gabe signing "open" at  the elevator door  :-)

Apparently they decorate malls for Halloween, but don't celebrate.

This cart got hit by a crazy moped and the man is scurrying around trying to pick up
his lost garlic and fruit :-(

This man was SLOWLY pulling this large cart, just a half block
from the mall

Gabe has taken a real liking to American food! ;-)  And no,
this wasn't the same McDonalds!!!

Again outside the mall - just an hour previous there had been 15 men
and women eating lunch out of this storage locker - see the wok on
the right?  It was like a temporary restaurant....

A small crowded store one block off the main shopping district

Scaffolding made out of bamboo sticks, and see the rope?
That's how they haul their stuff - bags full of cinder blocks, etc on a pulley lever system
with the rope

A local statue

More off the beaten path stores

The main street - stores selling Nike, etc.

A high end store for ladies

A woman preparing food on the side of the street, outside her small restaurant/store

The luck tree outside the Confucius temple

A rickshaw driver waiting...he will pull the people by hand while walking, no bike

The Confucius temple

A beautiful entrance to a waterfront restaurant

A city welfare registration building

Beautiful detail on the edge of the river
